Highlights From Swift For 2023

There are some brands which really stand out in their respective fields, across our cultural landscape. In the world of leisure vehicles – caravans, campervans and motorhomes, in other words – the name Swift has been highly recognisable for over half a century. What does this popular brand have in store for us in 2023? In this edition of our blog we’ll explain why they’re so good – and be looking at our top picks from their lines… 

A brief history of Swift

When you’re talking about the desirability of Swift vehicles, it really helps to briefly explain a little bit about the history of the company and their focus on innovation – providing consistent excellence, as well as customer service. 

Origins

Founded in 1964 and based in East Yorkshire (not too far from where Wandahome is, actually), Swift grew throughout the remainder of the 1960s from a small two-man operation into a company employing more than 50 people. In the 1970s Swift moved to a purpose-built large factory production unit (which has been expanded over the years, though is still HQ to this day). 

Development

In the 1980s, Swift made major technological advances in production techniques – wind tunnel testing, extended road tests and computer modelling – and took complete control of their manufacturing and distribution process. By the end of that decade, Swift had become one of the top two manufacturers in the UK and had a staff of 500. 

To today

Throughout the 1990s Swift continued to expand, acquiring other leisure vehicle businesses along the way, moving into motorhome and campervan production and upgrading their facilities and processes. Swift continued to innovate during the 2000s and 2010s, with vehicles continuing to shine and business practices concentrated for efficiency and excellence of customer service.
